I have been getting a lot of questions lately about how to get started with a capsule wardrobe and how to decide what “stays” and what “goes” and everything else involved. So I’ve decided to write out my process for putting together a capsule. I have been working toward capsule wardrobing for years (literally) and have had several “fails” along the way (transitioning from working in an office to being a SAHM took some major adjustments), but with these steps you can start your own journey to capsule wardrobing. Where you will love all your clothes, and always have something to wear!
My overall process breaks down into five phases, which I’ve outlined below:
Phase 1 – The Purge
Phase 2 – The Try On
Phase 3 – The Research
Phase 4 – The Shopping
Phase 5 – The Planning
Over the next several weeks, I will be breaking down each of these Phases to walk you through how to accomplish each one in a way that works with your life.
Whether you only make it through phases 1 & 2 or if you get all the way to the end, you will walk away from this process with your closet taking up less head space and hopefully you will finally banish that “I have nothing to wear” sentiment!
While you are waiting for the next installment of this series, read all about my March Capsule here and be sure to follow me on Instagram to see how I style my clothes and my current capsule on a daily basis.
